STEP 03 · DESIGN
From site picture to site plan.
Diagnose tells you what's there. Design tells you what to remediate, how to restore, what to contain, and how to document. Built around the regulatory program you're closing under, the end-use you're targeting, and the asset value you want to capture beyond the closure itself.
Three steps to your ultimate site playbook.
1
Initial Scoping
We walk through your diagnostic findings together, talk through your regulatory program and end-use, and define what your design actually needs to cover; what matters first for the closure pathway.
2
Design Work
Bespoke to your site. Could be focused remediation product selection for a single pad. Could be a multi-year integrated plan across chemistry, biology, containment, restoration, and closure documentation for a watershed-scale brownfield portfolio.
3
Review Consult
We walk through your finished plan together, answer questions, and confirm the path forward. From here you move into Deploy or hand the package to your existing environmental consultant, contractor, and regulatory team.
Six categories you can design for.
Pick as many or as few as your goals require. Each can be designed at the level of detail you actually need; from focused recommendations to full infrastructure specs.
Soil chemistry remediation and amendment
The mineral inputs, amendments, and chemistry shifts that drive contamination drawdown and soil function restoration. Specific products, rates, application methods, and sequencing. Built so chemistry changes don't undercut biology, containment, or downstream water quality.
Bioremediation and microbial restoration
Targeted microbial consortia for contaminant breakdown, biological restoration of disturbed substrate, and soil community recovery. Matched to contamination profile and end-use; different consortia for hydrocarbons, hydrocarbons + salts, heavy metals, or PFAS-impacted soils.
Site infrastructure, drainage, monitoring wells
Drainage system design, monitoring well placement, water management infrastructure, and site grading. The physical infrastructure that lets remediation, containment, and verification actually function on the site.
Revegetation, restoration plantings, end-use cover
Plant species selection matched to remediation goals: phytoremediation candidates, native restoration, agricultural cover for grazing return, or aesthetic cover for redevelopment. Drives soil function recovery and end-use readiness.
Capping, isolation, residual management
When complete remediation isn't feasible or cost-effective: engineered caps, isolation barriers, residual management strategies, and long-term containment plans. Documented to regulatory specifications with monitoring cadence built in.
The regulatory deliverable itself
Sampling cadence, lab protocol, QA/QC documentation, chain of custody, regulatory submission templates, and No Further Action package construction. Built around your target program (EPA CERCLA, RCRA, state VCP, NRD, brownfield) so closure submission is integrated into operations, not bolted on after.
✽ Your path, your choice
Edapho design pathways
Designed for Edapho to deploy.
We build the plan knowing our team will execute it. Streamlined documentation. Internal sourcing of remediation products and biological consortia. Coordination with monitoring contractors and lab partners handled internally. You stay focused on regulatory strategy and stakeholder management while we run the field execution.
Fits projects where:
- The site owner wants single-vendor accountability
- Internal environmental capacity is limited
- Speed to closure submission matters
- Multi-site portfolio consistency is critical
Designed for you to deploy.
We build the plan knowing your environmental consultant, remediation contractor, or in-house team will execute. Contractor-ready specs. Product lists with sources. Verification protocols woven through. We stay engaged for milestone testing, regulatory consultations, and closure submission support.
Fits projects where:
- You have established consultant or contractor relationships
- Internal environmental capacity is strong
- Long-term cost control matters most
- You want full data trail and regulatory IP ownership
What's in your Design package.
A real document, designed like everything else we deliver. The exact contents depend on the categories and depth you chose during scoping.
Your Design Document Deliverable 01
A comprehensive plan built around your diagnostic findings, your regulatory program, and your end-use targets. Designed page-by-page, not assembled from templates.
Remediation Specifications Deliverable 02
For every category at Product Design or above: specific remediation products, application rates, sources, and sequencing. Built for the acreage and contamination zones you actually have, not generic per-site recommendations.
Sampling & Monitoring Plan Deliverable 03
If your design includes Structure or Closure: sampling grid, monitoring well placement, sensor specifications, water quality station locations, and program-compliant statistical sampling documentation. Built to be installation-ready and regulator-acceptable.
Implementation Sequence Deliverable 04
The order things happen in, and why. Mobilization priorities, active remediation sequencing, closure verification milestones; aligned to your regulatory program's review and approval cycle.
Closure Package Framework Deliverable 05
The regulatory-defense document set. Program compliance mapping, QA/QC procedures, chain of custody templates, submission templates, and the data trail framework that gets maintained through closure and into post-closure.
Re-Test & Verification Schedule Deliverable 06
When to re-test, what to measure, what regulatory milestones to hit, and what triggers a remediation adjustment. So you can hold us, or your contractors, to the predictions across the entire project term.
What Comes After
From plan to action.
Once your design is in hand, Deploy is where it becomes real. Our crew installing what you've planned. Our remediation products shipping for your site. Your monitoring infrastructure online. Your data trail building toward closure submission and the asset recovery that follows.
